One month to go

2026-10-08T00:00:00Z

We are almost there! One month to go until BSidesDFW.

With that in mind, there has been a flurry of activity. We have the schedule online, information about all of the speakers, the villages, and the workshops. Go check it out.

Also, we got our Sponsors page online. This event simply not happen without our sponsors and supporters. Please go check the page out and be sure to check the sponsors out when you see them at the event.

Registration for the event is going to open really soon. Keep your eye out for it.

The Dallas Hackers Association meetup is tonight. I'll be there. Say hello.

Go forth and volunteer

Sign-up for voltuneering at the BSidesDFW event is now open! Check it out.

Also, we made some changes to the webiste -- including adding dark mode for those who wanted it.

We're very close to getting our sponsors on the website. If you're wanting to sponsor the event, check out the Sponsorship Kit. Remember this event cannot work without the hardwork of our volunteers or the support of our sponsors.

Call for papers closing soon

2026-09-03T00:00:00Z

The call for papers for BSidesDFW 2026 is set to close later this week on September 5th. If you have a talk that you want to have considered, please make sure you submit it before then.

I'll be attending the Dallas Hackers Association meetup tonight in Dallas. Stop by and say hello. I may have a BSidesDFW sticker or two.

We've started getting some Sponsorship interest. If you or someone/someorg you know is interested in Sponsoring BSidesDFW this year, check out our sponsorship kit and reach out for any questions.

Back from camp -- call for papers!

I hope everyone had a great time at hacker camp, or whatever it is that you did this summer. I, unfortunately, was unable to make it out myself.

Now that summer is behind us, though, we have a few announcements:

The call for papeers for BSidesDFW is now open! It will be open from now until the first Saturday in September. Submit your talks. Seriously. Go now.
With that, we are looking for people to be willing to host a workshop at the event. Please let me know what you're able to do!
We're still looking for more volunteers to help plan the event. If you look at the /about/ page you'll see its quite lonely. That includes someone to keep this blog up to date. I'm terrible at it

I'll be attending DC214 tonight in Dallas, if you're there -- stop by and say hello.

Dallas Hackers meetup is this week

2026-06-01T00:00:00Z

The monthly Dallas Hackers Association meetup is this Wednesday, June 3rd, in Dallas.

I'm planning on doing a small presentation about this upcoming BSidesDFW event, so you should show up if you're interested.

More information about Dallas Hackers Association can be found here.

Is this thing on?

New year, new us, new BSides DFW unconference.

Pardon our dust as we get things adjusted for this year's event. There are a lot of things in the works beyond just a new website, so stay tuned for that.

What we can say right now:

BSides DFW is returning again in 2026, aiming for the first Saturday in November as usual.
Our theme this year is based on the 1927 film Metropolis by Fritz Lang -- watch it below.
